Free Interview Answers

Below is a list of free interview answers for common interview questions.

1. Why do you want to work for us?

Your advance investigation into this job will allow you to highlight the company's core values (showing how you will fit in) and their main issues (demonstrating that are you are the answer to their problems.) For example,

"I am excited about working here because it is a family-oriented company and I know that I will be able to bring in the new business you want."

2. Do you like to work with a team or on your own?

"In the past I have worked alone and with teams. I enjoy and perform well in both situations."

3. Where do you see yourself in 3/5/10 years time?

Say what you want, but make sure that your answer involves staying with their company.

4. What are your greatest strengths?

During the interview, tell a short, interesting story about each of your top 3-5 strengths and how they have benefitted your previous employers. Be specific.

5. What are your greatest weaknesses?

Name a weakness that has nothing to do with this job. For example, if you are an accountant, you might say,

"Because I am great with numbers and pay careful attention to details, I am probably not the best salesperson."

6. Give an example of a situation where you didn't meet your goals.

In an upbeat manner, describe the difficult situation, what you learned from the experience, and how you are now prepared to be successful if it were to occur again.

7. Give an example of a situation when you faced conflict and overcame it.

Without 'bad-mouthing' anyone (this always backfires in interview answers), describe a specific situation and how you were able to bring the team together. Be humble and give credit to everyone involved.

8. Give an example of a time when you faced an unreasonable deadline.

This is your opportunity to highlight how you love a challenge by describing a time when you 'rose to the occasion' and enjoyed doing it. For example a great interview answer might be,

"Last month our best customer insisted that we deliver his order one week before it was scheduled to go out. I knew how important it was to have great relations with this customer and saw the whole situation as a challenge. By making some key calls and rearranging some other orders, we not only met his new deadline but beat it by one day. It was a great experience."

9. What is the first thing you would change if you were to work here?

Try to avoid a specific answer if at all possible by pointing out that you would want to carefully observe the company and understand all the variables before making too many changes. Then add that you are not afraid of positive change and are willing to do what it takes to make the company successful.

10. Why should we give you this job?

Remember the three things that every employer wants - to save money, make money, or solve a problem. Explain how you can do the job and provide the results. Additionally point out that you are a hard worker, easy to get along with, and can quickly be brought up to speed.

In all situations, be truthful. The interviewer will sense when you are slanting the facts just to get the job. When forced to choose between giving a less than ideal answer and lying - tell the truth. The employer will appreciate your candor and know that you will be an honest employee when you work for their firm.

The interview is your time to shine. Take these free interview answers, prepare, practice and then you can arrive ready to confidently promote yourself and your skills.
